Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Cast by director Bob Rafeison as a 19th century explorer Sir Richard Burton in his epic Mountains of the Moon (1990). Patrick then made his move to Hollywood, acquiring much acclaim with his performance opposite Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy (1991), as the title character in Robin Hood (1991) and in Patriot Games with Harrison Ford (1992). He has appeared in no less than 55 films since.
